SOUTHLAND ROADS IN GOOD ORDER

HEAVY TRAFFIC EXPECTED DURING HOLIDAYS

Traffic on Southland roads during the Christmas and New Year holidays is expected to be very heavy and the Automobile Association (Southland) advises that at the present time ■ the roads in the province are generally in excellent order. An exception is the Chaslands road, which is fairly rough in places. The Kingston-Queenstown lake road has been greatly improved. Widening and straightening work has been carried out, and this has added considerably to the safety of the road. Large stretches of the road between Alexandra and Cromwell have been surface sealed and what was once a rough surface is now a road on which it is a pleasure to motor. The Automobile Association’s camping ground at Te Anau is now complete and will probably be used by a large number of members during the coming holidays. Other popular places will undoubtedly be. Cascade Creek and Piano Flat.
