LEADERS APPOINTED FOR EMERGENCY VICE-CHAIRMEN AND CHAIRMEN At a meeting of the committee appointed to go into the emergency precautions scheme the following chairmen and vice-chairmen of the various sub-committees were approved:— Transport: Messrs F. J. Townsend (chairman), G. W. Whittingham (vicechairman). Supplies: Messrs A. C. Steel (chairman), James Ritchie (vice-chairman). Medical: Dr R. G. Stokes (chairman), Mr R. W. Connor (vice-chairman). Works: Messrs E. G. Wilson (chairman), A. Richardson (vice-chairman). Law and Order: Sergeant D. W. Black (chairman), Mr G. L. Gerken (vicechairman). Fire: Superintendent F. Wallis (chairman), Lieutenant H. G. Wallis (vicechairman). Accommodation: Messrs W. D. Shelton (chairman), E. T. Eastwood (vicechairman). Communication: Messrs M. P. Anderson (chairman), C. M. Wilson (vicechairman). Various matters of organization were discussed, and it was decided to hold a further meeting in a fortnight’s time to report on the progress made. Each committeeman received a copy of the emergency precautions handbook. The meeting was presided over by the Mayor, Mr A. T. Newman. The town clerk, Mr D. Harvey, is secretary of .the Gore organization, and its headquarters are at the borough office. OUTING FOR OLD PEOPLE More than 80 people have accepted the invitations sent out by the Gore Rotary Club and the Gore Ministers’ Association for the annual outing for old people to be held to Wyndham next Saturday. This is the third outing of its kind and it is proving very popular. Mr G. W. Whittingham would be pleased to receive any offers of transport from motorists.
