CLUB
REVIEW OF ACTIVITIES IN PAST SEASON
“The finances of the Southland Anglers’ Club are in a healthy state, the committee completing the year with a credit balance of £9/15/8,” stated the annual report presented to the club’s annual meeting in the Y.M.C.A. hall last night., Mr G. Hoffman presided over a good attendance. “The membership last season showed a decrease” continued the report. “It is noted with pleasure that this year members have taken a much greater interest in the competitions conducted by the club. Last season the committee held a most successful picnic, a large number of anglers having a very enjoyable day. A social evening was held during the year to make a presentation to Mr T. Copeland, an old member of the executive, who has gone to Ashburton.” The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr J. W. Smith (re-elected); president, Mr D. Wishart; vice-presi-dents, Messrs G. Hoffman, E. Luzmoor; honorary secretary, Mr F. B. Henderson (re-elected); honorary auditor, .Mr James Robertson (re-elected). Messrs L. Boyer, N. Checketts, J. Loudon, W. Murray, L. Wilson? G. Wilson, G. Friend, W. Carson and L. Birss were appointed to fill vacancies on the executive. The following competition winners were announced:—Labour Day competition, G. Hoffman 1, R. Hoffman 2; Makarewa river and tributaries competition, G. Hoffman 1, D. Wishart 2, L. Wilson 3; open competition (Oreti river), G. Hoffman 1, A. Wilson 2, D. Wishart 3; Aparima river competition, I. Ramsay 1, A. Herman 2; H. and J. Smith’s Challenge Cup, G. Hoffman 1, D Wishart 2, W. Murray 3; open competition (Eastern District), T. Copeland 1, W. Murray 2, D. Wishart 3; heaviest aggregate for season, G. Hoffman.
