LAWN TENNIS When the Wyndham - Tennis Club held its official opening' there was an excellent attendance of about 45 players, visitors being present from most of the surrounding clubs. A Yankee tournament was won by Mr J. Heath and Mrs Macfarlane. The following were the results:— Section I.—Macfarlane and Miss Harper. Section ll.—Davey and Miss Baird. Section lll.—McKay and Miss Stewart. Section IV.—Heath and Mrs Macfarlane. Section V.—Rout and Miss Templeton. Section Vl.—Matheson and Miss H. Crosbie. Semi-final.—Macfarlane and Miss Harper (2) beat Davey and Miss Baird (scr), 31-30; McKay and Miss Stewart (13) lost to Heath and Mrs Macfarlane (scr), 27-31; Rout and Miss Templeton (scr) beat Matheson and Miss H. Crosbie (4), 31-30. Second semi-final.—Macfarlane and Miss Harper lost to Heath and Mrs Macfarlane, 26-31; Rout and Miss Templeton a bye.
Final.—Heath . and Mrs Macfarlane (scr) beat Rout and Miss Templeton (6), 31-22. LADIES’ GOLF CLUB The official closing of the 1939 season of the Wyndham Ladies’ Golf Club was held in fine weather. Canadian foursomes were played and won by Mrs Bulling and Miss F. Sinclair. After afternoon tea, putting and approaching competitions weie held, the senior one being won by Mrs Bulling and the junior by Miss Marjorie McKay. The knock-out competition for players who have not yet earned a handicap, was completed during the week and was won by Miss Frances Sinclair. In presenting the various trophies, the president, Mrs C. S. Gordon, congratulated the winners, and said it had been a pleasant closing to their season.
