DEATH OF DOMINION JOURNALIST
RESULT OF INJURIES DURING ALTERCATION
SYDNEY, September 12.
A New Zealand journalist, Gervaine G. McDonald, employed by Associated Newspapers Ltd., Sydney, died today from injuries received on Saturday during an altercation at Bondi. McDonald, who was a Court reporter on The Sun, was allegedly involved in an argument in which blows were struck, and he fell, striking his head heavily on the footpath. His skull was fractured, and he did not regain consciousness. McDonald’s father is a barrister in Wellington. John Kirkwood, aged 30, an agent, was arrested and charged with having feloniously slain McDonald. He was remanded at Paddington Court till next Monday, bail being refused.
