AWARUA LICENSING COMMITTEE
RENEWALS AND TRANSFERS APPROVED Applications for renewals and transfers of publicans’ licences, for publicans’ licences and for renewals and issues of wholesale licences were heard by the Awarua Licensing Committee at the annual meeting at Winton. Mr R. C. Abernethy, S.M., chairman of the committee, presided over the following members: Messrs F. Moore, J. A. Stewart, W. B. Dixon, D. M. Tweedie and T. V. Hardy. Inspector T. Gibson represented the police. The following transfers were granted: Wallacetown Hotel, Margaret Louisa Baird to Albert Herbert Jenson; Golden Age Hotel, Bluff, John Devoy Ballantyne to John Hislop. The following publicans’ licences were issued: Thomas Clarke Muir, Commercial Hotel, Winton; Albert Herbert Jenson, Wallacetown Hotel, Wallacetown; J. M. Foster, Thombury Junction Hotel; John Hislop, Golden Age Hotel, Bluff; John Robert Todd, Railway Hotel, Winton; John Edward Kennedy, Eagle Hotel, Bluff. The following renewals of publicans’ licenses were granted: George William Walters, Winton Hotel, Winton; William Trembath, Trembath’s Hotel, Riverton; John Crawford, the Aparima Hotel, Riverton; Mary Sommerville de Cilifford, Wallace County Hotel, Riverton; Albert Edward Ward, Globe Hotel, Riverton; Richard John Walker, Great Western Hotel, Riverton; Duncan Alexander, Railway Hotel, Riverton; Richard Harris, Railway Junction Hotel, Lomeville; Stanley Gibson Mitchell, Club Hotel, Bluff; John Tice Martin, Bay View Hotel, Bluff. The following accommodation licences were granted: John Hamilton, Celtic Hotel,' Browns; Alan Leiper Lambie, Benmore Hotel, Dipton; George Thomas Baldwin, Farmer’s Rest Hotel, Oreti. The following wholesalers’ licences were granted: McKerras and Hazlett Ltd., Gore street, Bluff; Thomsons Ltd., Lee street, Bluff; Moffett and Co. Ltd., Marine Parade, Bluff; Q.S. Stores Ltd., Riverton.
