LORD NUFFIELD NOT PESSIMISTIC
“OUTLOOK FOR PEACE MOST PROMISING” (Received February 6, 11.10 p.m.) FREMANTLE, February 6. The outlook for world peace is most promising, according to Lord Nuffield, who arrived from South Africa today. “The people of the Dominions need not be pessimistic about Britain’s defences,” he added. “The Army and Navy have never been in better fettle. Any impression that Britain has shirked war is entirely erroneous. She has simply desired to avoid it in the interests of humanity. England today is ready for any eventuality.” Lord Nuffield has come to Australia for a rest after a strenuous year in England. He will visit Sydney and will return on March 3.
