EXPLOSION AT PRISON

Attempt To Blow Up Wall BOMB FOUND AT POWER STATION Scotland Yard's Fight Against Terrorists (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received February 6, 9.50 p.m.) LONDON, February 6. Shortly before midnight an attempt was made to blow up a wall of the Walton gaol, Liverpool, where the prisoners include men on remand on charges of complicity in the recent explosions. A small hole was blown in the base of the wall.

During a raid on a house in a London suburb the police found a list of the names of all officers attached to the special branch of Scotland Yard. It is believed that it was compiled from a list supplied from a police source.

A watchman found a home-made bomb at an electric generating station in Titchfield street. It had failed to explode because of a damp fuse.

Fires occurred in shops at Coventry. They were caused by envelopes containing toy balloons filled with nitric acid, which after penetrating the rubber ignited magnesium powder, causing an intense blaze.

Scotland Yard was organized on a war-time basis during the week-end; all leave is stopped. The police took elaborate precautions against possible bombings when the King and Queen attended the dedication service of the new St. Andrew’s Garrison Church at Aidershot in the afternoon. Military police guarded the church throughout the night and two hours before the arrival of the King and Queen police officers and military searched the building.
