TRENTHAM SCHOLARSHIP FUND WOUND UP

SUM OF £70,000 DISTRIBUTED (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 23. The Trentham Scholarship Fund, from which more than £70,000 has been distributed during the past 20 years in the form of bursaries to children of dead and disabled soldiers and others who served with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force during the Great War, was wound up at the final meeting of the executive committee today. It was stated that 3764 bursaries hae been awarded, providing secondary education for 1381 children of dead and disabled men, with excellent results to the beneficiaries and the community. The sum of £221 10/— had been made available during 1939 to’enable 21 bursars to complete their studies. Any balance, less administration costs, is to be paid over to the Canteen and Regimental Trust Fund Board.
