POSTMASTER AT INVERCARGILL

TRANSFER TO NORTH ISLAND MR F. G. NIND TO GO TO WELLINGTON Mr F. G. Nind, who has been chief postmaster at Invercargill for the last two years and a-half, has been appointed senior inspector in the General Post Office, Wellington. He expects to leave Invercargill in about a fortnight. Mr Nind began his career in the service at Dunedin as a telegraph message boy 39 years ago. He has had varied, experience in both telegranh and postal departments and has occupied responsible positions in many towns and cities throughout the Dominion. About nine years ago he was appointed superintendent of the Christchurch telegraph office and he remained in that position for about two years. He was then appointed chief postmaster at Oamaru and two years later he was transferred to the same position at Timaru. Mr Nind occupied that position until he was appointed chief postmaster at Invercargill. , , , „ Mr Nind will be replaced by Mr H. Miller, who is at present chief postmaster at Timaru.

Mr Miller joined the service as a telegraph messenger at Carterton in 1901. He served as a telegraphist at Carterton, Gisborne and Wellington from 1904 to 1920 when he was promoted to the executive position of supervisor of the telegraph branch at Dannevirke. In 1923 he was appointed a supervisor of the telegraph office at Wellington and was transferred to Greymouth as senior supervisor of the telegraph branch in 1927. Promotion to a similar position in the telegraph branch at Wellington followed in 1930 where, after two years’ service, he was promoted to the position of postmaster at Marton. The following year he became chief postmaster at Oamaru and in 1936 he went to Timaru as chief postmaster.
