PROTESTS FAIL TO SAVE JEW
EXECUTION IN PALESTINE (Received June 30, 12.40 a.m.) JERUSALEM, June 29. Solomon Ben Joseph was executed at the Acre gaol in spite of the efforts throughout the night of influential Jewish organizations to produce a reprieve. . Angry crowds of Jews thronged the streets yesterday, clashing with steelhelmeted police. Two British constables were stoned.
The shops were closed as a protest, after which the curfew was enforced.
The execution of Solomon Ben Joseph was the first in Palestine since 70 A-D.
