ALLEGED “WHISPERING CAMPAIGN”

MR LYONS DENIES CHARGE BY MR SAVAGE CANBERRA, June 24. The Federal Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons) says that he is not aware of any “whispering campaign” in Australia against New Zealand, as alleged by the Prime Minister of New Zealand (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage). “I am sure that no decent Australian would lend himself to any action likely to injure New Zealand credit,” said Mr Lyons. “The general attitude of Australia toward- New Zealand is most friendly. The policy of the New Zealand Government is entirely a matter for New Zealand.”
