LABOURER CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
PLEA OF NOT GUILTY ENTERED (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, February 25. . Appearing in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, William George Boyd, a labourer, aged 54, of no fixed abode, pleaded not guilty to -a charge that on January 19 with intent to do grievous bodily harm he wounded Thomas Hawtin. Boyd was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail of £3OO and two sureties of £3OO each were allowed, a condition being that Boyd report daily to the police. Hawtin was seriously wounded in the throat when he was involved in a fracas.
