SOUTHLAND KENNEL CLUB

FIELD TRIAL SECTION CHANGES ITS NAME The annual meeting and social of the field trial section of the Southland Kennel Club was held on Wednesday evening there being a big attendance. The annual report and balance-sheet presented at the meeting showed the club to be in a sound financial position with good prospects for the coming season.

The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr F. Strang; president, Mr P. Hennessey; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Fraser, A. W. Broad, A. Hamilton, W. M. C. Denham, MP., and the next president of the Southland Kennel Club; secretary, Mr J. R. O’Brien; committee, Messrs J. Pasco, T. Pasco, S. Lindsay, L. McKenzie, R. Hislop, J. Reid, W. Cavanagh, N. Sutherland, W. Pay, R. Broad, H. Broad, G. Dennis and two members to be nominated by the Southland Kennel Club; honorary veterinary surgeon, Mr John Miller, M.R.C.V.S. It was decided, with the approval of the Kennel Club, to change the name of the field trial section to the Southland Gun Dog Club (associated with the Southland Kennel Club), and to charge a membership fee. During the social the presentation of a pocket wallet was made to the judge, Mr A. Fraser, and a weather glass to the secretary, Mr J. R. O’Brien, and trophies were also presented to the winners at the Tuatapere sports on January 1. Several toasts were honoured and items were given by Messrs P. Hennessey and S. Lindsay.
