BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTIONS
RETIREMENT BY ROTATION FAVOURED “That at the election time all councillors should not retire as a body, but that in the interests of the ratepayers the system of retiring by rotation should be adopted." This remit will be submitted to the conference of the New Zealand Municipal Association at New Plymouth in- March by the Bluff Borough Council. The adoption of the remit for sending to the conference was moved by Cr H. W. Newman at the meeting of the council last evening.
Cr A. C. McKillo raised the question of the desirability of defeated candidates for the mayoralty taking seats on the council.
The Mayor and other councillors agreed that this would be a wise step, but there was no further discussion and the matter lapsed.
