MARATHON RUNNERS FOR GAMES
OTAGO CENTRE ASKS FOR 20 MILE TRIAL
(United Press Association)
DUNEDIN, December 21. At a meeting of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association tonight a strong protest was lodged at the New Zealand Council’s action in not considering the selection of a marathon runner for the Empire Games. The following resolution was carried unanimously:—That this centre strongly deprecates the action of the New Zealand Council in ignoring the claims of marathon runners for a place in the Empire Games team and that a telegram be sent to the council setting out again the claims of G. L. Austin in particular and urging that a 20-mile national trial be held without delay.
