AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE COMMITTEE
ME W. BL HUGHES INCLUDED (Received December 21, 6.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, December 21. The Minister of Defence (Mr H. V. Thorby) announced that the direction of the major questions of the defence policy would in future be made by a standing sub-committee of the Federal Cabinet, comprising the Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons), the Minister for External Affairs (Mr W. M. Hughes), the Federal Treasurer (Mr R. G. Casey) and the Minister of Defence.
