MAX BAER FATHER OF A SON
JACK DEMPSEY LOSES BET (Received December 6, 11.30 p.m.) OAKLAND, (California), December 6. Max Baer, the former heavyweight boxing champion, has become the father of a son, thereby winning 1000 dollars from Jack Dempsey, who bet that the baby would be a girl. Baer, who was highly nei-vous, hinted that he was attempting a “comeback” against the winner of the bout between J. J. Braddock and Tommy Farr in February. “I have something to fight for now,” he said. “I never thought ‘papa’ was such a swell word before.”
The child is to be named Max Baer, jun.
