In a match on the local courts, Pahia beat Excelsior by 14 sets to two. Following were the results, Excelsior names being mentioned first:— Women’s Singles.—Miss McLeod lost to Miss McPherson, 3-6; Mrs Austin lost to Miss Skerrett, 2-6; Miss Charlton beat Miss E. McPherson, 6-5; Miss Baty lost to Miss Church, 4-6. Men’s Singles.—W. Austin lost to N. Dudfield, 3-6; J. A. Forde lost to R. Pickering, 5-6; G. Stewart lost to D. McPherson, 2-6; B. Norman lost to F. McMullan, 3-6.

Women’s Doubles.—Mrs Austin and Miss McLeod lost to Misses McPherson and Skerrett, 5-6; Misses Charlton and Baty beat Misses McPherson and Church, 6-4.

Men’s Doubles.—J. Forde and W. Austin lost to N. Dudfield and R. Pickering, 3-7; G. Stewart and B. Norman lost to D. McPherson and F. McMullan, 2-7. Mixed Doubles.—Miss McLeod and W. Austin lost to Miss McPherson and N. Dudfield, 0-6; Mrs Austin and J. Forde lost to Miss Skerrett and R. Pickering, 1-6; Miss Charlton and G. Stewart lost to Miss E. McPherson and D. ATHLETIC SOCIETY Ideal weather conditions favoured the Athletic Society’s recent sports meeting. A large crowd was present and visitors from Invercargill and Tuatapere competed in the various events. SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCERT A large and appreciative audience attended the annual Sunday school concert, which was held recently in the Regent Hall. The first half of the programme consisted of songs, recitations, dialogues and mouth-organ solos, while two playettes occupied the second half, the young performers acquitting themselves very creditably, and reflecting great credit on Mrs Noble, who was

responsible for the arranging of the programme and the training of the children. Mrs Fraser acted as accompaniste.
