Sir,—Could you enlighten me on the following points regarding the Musicians’ Award. 1. Do the award rates apply to socials where there is a charge at the door? 2. Can, for instance, a sports club hire a dance band under award rates if it makes a charge at the door? 3. I am under the impression that these rates apply only where a social or dance is held for individual gain. Is this right?—Yours, etc., JAZZ. December 1, 1937.
