EXTENSION DURING SUMMER DAILY TRIPS NORTH AND SOUTH Daily air services in each direction during the summer between Dunedin, Christchurch, Blenheim, Wellington, Palmerston North, New Plymouth and Auckland are to be established by Union Airways from October 30. East Coast Airways are also amending their services to provide a daily connection in each direction between Gisborne, Napier and Dunedin.. These alterations and extensions have been planned, states a report issued by Union Airways, for the purpose of ascertaining the potential traffic, and, although this is the first occasion on which it has been possible to make an effox-t to give a network of air services throughout New Zealand, the continuation of the services must depend upon the amount of support received. Mail facilities have been given close attention, but passenger traffic has received first consideration. Subject to the approval of the Minister of Transport the following summer time-tables will be brought into operation on and after October 30:—

Leaving Auckland at 8.15 a.m. and New Plymouth at 9.30 a.m. passengers can connect with the main trunk service leaving Palmerston North at 10.30 a.m. and arrive at Blenheim 11.35 a.m., Christchurch 1.10 p.m. and Dunedin 3 p.m. The present through connection northbound from Dunedin, Christchurch and Blenheim to New Plymouth and Auckland remains, except that two connections can now be made at Palmerston North for Auckland and one for New Plymouth. The two connections to Auckland leave Palmerston North at 12.55 p.m. and 3.50 p.m. and arrive in Auckland at 2.30 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively. The connection in the above case with New Plymouth leaves Palmerston North at 3.50 p.m. and arrives at 4.45 p.m. Cook Strait Airways’ connections between Wellington and Christchurch and Dunedin to connect with the main trunk service will be maintained as usual except that the time of departure from Wellington Will be 11 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. as at present. The northbound connection will leave Blenheim as usual at 11.30 a.m., arriving Wellington at noon. Wellington passengers can now leave at 11 a.m. and be in Christchurch at 1.10 p.m. EAST COAST TIME-TABLE In addition to the above time-tables, further extensions are proposed by East Coast Airways, connecting with the main trunk and Auckland-Wellington services at Palmerston North. Schedules have been so arranged that a departure at 6.40 a.m. from Gisborne and 7.50 a.m. from Napier with arrival in Palmerston North at 9.05 a.m. will connect with the south-bound service to Blenheim, Christchurch and Dunedin, leaving there at 10.30 a.m. Connection will also be made with the AucklandWellington services; for Wellington arriving at 11.15 a.m. and for Auckland arriving at 2.30 p.m. and 6 p.m. and for New Plymouth arriving at 4.45 p.m. The East Coast departure from Palmerston North is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will arrive in Napier at 2.10 p.m. and Gisborne at 3.20 p.m. The full East Coast Airways time-table is as follows:— From Gisborne

Other extensions will be considered as experience is gained and equipment secured, but it is the policy of the company to develop in well planned economical stages.
