IMPORTATION OF BUTTER BOXES

REQUIREMENTS OF DAIRY INDUSTRY (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 20. The importation of 500,000 butter boxes into New Zealand for the present dairy season about which questions were asked in the House of Representatives recently by several members was the subject of comment by the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin) in the course of ministerial replies to members’ questions which were circulated in the House today. “In order to make provision for the requirements of the dairy industry during the present season,” said the Minister, “it is imperative that 500,000 boxes should be imported. The Government, through the Forestry Department and the Primary Products Marketing Department, in co-operation with the Dairy Board, has arranged with saw millers and box manufacturers to use every possible means to provide for the dairy industry’s future requirements.”
