MEETING OF DIRECTORS Mr W. Falconer, of Makarewa, was elected president of the Southland A. and P. Society at a meeting of directors of the society yesterday afternoon. The retiring president, Mr W. Clark, was chairman, and there were present: Messrs D. Marshall, A. S. Holms, R. Swale, J. S. Marshall, S. Evans, R. Kennedy, A. M. Weir, John Gilkison, A. Campbell, A. Horne, L. Gilkison, T. E. Patterson, J. Bateman, J. J. Blakie, W. Kennedy, J. Carnegy Gardner, R. S. Tait, W. R. Ronald, John Macdon-

ald, T. Hamilton and G. Stevenson. Dr A. F. Ritchie Crawford was elected vice-president, Mr J. S. Marshall,' the other nominee, having his nomination withdrawn in favour of Dr Crawford,

“I wish to move a very hearty vote of thanks to Mr Clark,” said Mr D. Marshall, “for the splendid year’s work he has done during his term of office as president He always paid attention to his job and carried out his duties in an able and efficient manner.” The vote of thanks was carried by acclamation.

In reply, Mr Clark said he wished to thank his fellow directors for the cooperation and assistance they had given him during his term of office. The society had had a splendid year; It could be described as a milestone in the history of the society. He wished also to thank the secretary (Mr A. L. Adamson), the staff and the Press for the work they had done for himself and for the society during the year.
