Albert J. G. Kempton, who was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment at Wellington on Thursday by Mr Justice Smith on a charge of failing to stop after his lorry had collided with a passenger bus in the Wairarapa district, yesterday applied for leave to appeal.—Press Association. During a recent storm at NiederAsphe, north of Marburg, Yugoslavia, 78 sheep were killed by lightning. The shepherd, who was only 16ft away, was uninjured. The 300-year-old Four Swans Hotel at Waltham Cross, an old English coaching inn, was. seriously damaged by fire recently.
