ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

MANGAN CUP FINAL THISTLE BEATS SOUTHERN By beating Southern by three goals to one at Biggar street on Saturday, the Thistle Association football team won the Mangan Cup and thus completed the hat-trick for the season. Conditions for play were splendid, but the game fell far short of the match of a week previously. There were far too many infringements and much rough play was allowed to go unchecked. As an exhibition of football the match was well below standard. The teams were: — SOUTHERN (Black): Pay, Adamson, McDonald, Churchill, Alcorn, McPherson, Gorrie, Heyricks, Kerr, Morrison and Kelly. THISTLE (Tartan): Ferguson, L. O’Rorke, M. O’Rorke, McMurdo, Morrison, Taylor, Stubbs, Lang, Radka, Sutherland and McLean. Thistle made the early play and Stubbs had a good chance which he spoiled by shooting wildly. There was a promising opening. Pay was tested by Morrison and again brilliantly from Lang. When Southern was attacking L. O’Rorke passed back to Ferguson—a dangerous move—and Kerr cut in and just missed. J. Morrison ri+ _Il £ll f I 1 di A
