CAR CRASHES INTO POWER POLE

FOUR OCCUPANTS SERIOUSLY INJURED (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 4. A small saloon rental car was damaged beyond repair and four young occupants seriously injured when the vehicle crashed into a power pole shortly after midnight in Three Kings road opposite Rewa road, Mount Roskill. The driver, Michael Kyne. aged 23 years, of Parnell, and Miss Dorothy Davies, aged 22 years, of Gisborne, are still in a serious condition, while Douglas Peterson, aged 23 years, of Mount Eden, is out of danger. The condition of Joyce White, aged 19 years, of Gisborne, is satisfactory. It is probable that the car skidded on the slippery concrete road, crashing into a power pole on the bend. The crash ■ was heard by residents a considerable distance away, who summoned a doctor and two ambulances, which took the injured people to hospital. All four suffered head injuries and concussion.
