Bluff THE METHODIST CHURCH

ANNIVERSARY SERVICES

The Methodist anniversary services were held recently special services, being conducted on Sunday by the minister, the Rev. G. Knowles-Smith. The annual church social was also held, when the report presented by Mr F. Johnston indicated that although there was a considerable debit, because of the dislocation caused by the recent epidemic, finances were improving and under the ministry of their new pastor the spiritual life of the church was reviving A programme of songs by Misses R. Johnston, I. Johnson, C. Edwards and Mrs W. Johnston, monologues by Mrs J. McQuarrie, violin solos by Miss L. Hunter, a piano duet by Mrs J. Walker and Miss M. McKenzie, and songs by Messrs F. W. McDonald and C. McDonald was well received. The accompaniments were played by Miss Hunter and Mrs T. Stewart. The Rev. T. A. Speer conveyed the fraternal greetings of the Presbyterian Church. The minister presented Miss Hunter with an envelope. of notes, representing the free-will contribution of the members of the church in token of their appreciation of her years of service as organiste. In making the presentation the minister spoke of the long and valued service given by the recipient. Miss Hunter suitably replied. OCEAN BEACH DANCE The annual dance given by the employees at Ocean Beach drew a record crowd and although in the past these functions have been invariably popular it is doubtful if there had previously been one which was more successful or enjoyable. The large cooling room was decorated for the occasion with flags and greenery. The master of ceremonies was Mr S. C. Harland, who was assisted by Mr O. Wiig, while music was provided by the Silver Fem Orchestra. The members of the committee were: Messrs J. Hardie (chairman), H. Low and E. Low (joint honorary secretaries), N. W. McGorlick, G. McNeill, H. Mclvor, J. Flynn and A. Low. buffalo lodge At the fortnightly meeting of tire R.A.0.8. Lodge, Bro. F. S. Belsham, W.P., presided over a satisfactory attendance of members. During the evening items were given by the following: Bros. A. Giles, E. Cameron C.P., S. Giles, T. Fowler, B. Fincher, E. S. Russell C.P., J. T. White C.P., L. Hitchcock, C. Smith, G. Barton, W. E. Harris C.P., F. S. Belsham W.P. (songs). Accompaniments were played by Bro. A. Giles.
