BOXING
STRICKLAND DRAWS WITH MANN (Received April 22, 7.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 21. A bout between Maurice Strickland, the New Zealander, and Mann was declared a draw in the 10th round. The boxing editor of The New York Times says that Strickland was clearly his rival’s superior in ring generalship and at times made Mann look awkward. Strickland performed a masterpiece of defensive boxing, awaiting his opponent’s charges and peppering him with disconcerting rights and lefts to the face. The decision was booed. Strickland is regarded as a match for Tommy Farr, the Welsh champion.
