GRANTS TO SPECIAL AREAS
PUBLIC HEALTH IN BRITAIN (British Official Wireless) (Received April 20, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, April 19. The Commissioner for Special Areas has promised further substantial grants to local authorities in the special areas towards the schemes undertaken by them on the grounds of public health. The commissioner’s total commitments at the end of March were £10,712,000, including grants to assist industry (£3,058,000), for land settlement (£3,182,000), schemes necessary on grounds of public health (£3,286,000) and other grants (£1,186,000).
