SHOP ASSISTANTS’ DISPUTE

NO AGREEMENT on major QUESTIONS (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 20 No agreement on the major questions was reached today in the dispute between the New Zealand Federated Shop Assistants’ Industrial Association of Workers and the Chemists’ Service Guild of New Zealand and other employers. The hearing is expected to occupy three days. It was agreed to divide unregistered assistants into two classes, qualified and unqualified, so that a student could work is a qualified assistant until efficient, when he could register and claim the wage of a registered assistant.
