DOG TRIALS

LOCHIEL CLUB J. B. QUEALE’S DOUBLE SUCCESS ■The thirteenth annual trials of the Lochiel Collie Dog Trial Club, held in Mr S. J. Irwin’s paddock, concluded yesterday afternoon. The weather throughout the two days was fine, but a fairly strong nor’-wester on each afternoon made conditions rather difficult. Entries were slightly lower than last year. There was quite a good attendance, considering that many farmers were unable to leave their harvesting. Mr A. G. MacKenzie, president, and Mr S. J. Irwin, secretary, headed an energetic committee which had events running so smoothly that the last run was completed before three o’clock yesterday afternoon. The judge, Mr J. R. Anderson, of Kauana, commented that the work in the heading events was of a very high standard. Mr J. B. Queale followed up his success with Trim at Gore last Saturday by winning both the Open Short Pull and All Comers’ events. Mr C. Ryan also had a double success with Gyp. The sheep for the trials were lent by Mr A. R. Forbes, Lochiel. Detailed results were as follows: —
