GERMAN COAST POUNDED
DYKES THREATENED BY HURRICANE (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) Berlin, October 19 A hurricane swept over the north coast of Germany to-day, mountainous seas pounding Heligoland, the lower Elbe and the Schleswig coast. Storm Troopers and men from the Labour Corps are working feverishly to maintain the dykes. A dyke at Stade, on the lower Elbe, collapsed and a peasant woman and two farmers were drowned. Hamburg harbour and the Bremenhaven roads are crowded with shipping, and many collisions occurred.
