NEXT SEASON’S WOOL
Higher Prices Predicted (United Press Association.) Auckland, August 14. Considerable benefit will accrue to New Zealand from Australia’s action in raising tariff barriers against Japanese goods, according to Mr K. Kurashighi, a Japanese business man resident in Sydney, on his arrival by the Wanganella on a month’s holiday and businesss trip. The tariffs amounted to a practical embargo against importations from Japan and the Japanese naturally retaliated in the same way, he said. If the condition continued, Japan would obtain wool from other countries including South Africa, America and New Zealand. He predicted good prices for New Zealand wool during the forthcoming season as more Japanese buyers would come.
