THE PLACEMENT SCHEME

INVERCARGILL IN SECOND PLACE. FIGURES SINCE PLAN BEGAN. The total number of men found work of permanent, temporary or casual nature in Invercargill since the Government’s placement scheme was begun is the second highest in the Dominion. Wellington heads the list with a total of 613, and Invercargill is next on the list with 460. Dunedin with 414 is next; Christchurch and Auckland are each below the 300 mark. Invercargill leads the whole Dominion in the number of men found casual employment. It has placed 348 men in this class of work, and 50, "placed at Wellington, is the next highest for New Zealand.
