NELSON MURDER
POLICE PUZZLED. (United Press Association.) Wliangarei. June 13 The police are still puzzled over the Nelson murder and realize that they are up against a difficult problem. The wads found near the body show that the gun used was a 12 bore, which is a common type and provides very little help. Many of the Maoris in the vicinity have an imperfect knowledge of English, which makes questioning difficult and unprofitable. A detective who can speak Maori has now arrived. The funeral of the victim of the murder took place at Kawakawa yesterday and the esteem in which he was held was evidenced by the large gathering of Europeans and Maoris.
