LATEST BRITISH FIGURES.
REDUCTION OF OVER 40,000. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, November 4. The unemployment figures show a reduction of over 40,000 in the number of unemployed in October compared with the preceding month. The Ministry of Labour estimates that at October 21 there were approximately 10,492,000 insured persons aged from 16 to 64 m employment in Britain. This is 14,000 more than at September 23 and 279,000 more than a year before. At the same date the numbers ot unemployed persons on the registers in Britain totalled 1,916,390, comprising 1,595,689 wholly unemployed, 238,866 temporarily laid off and 81,835 normally in casual employment. The number was 42,220 fewer than at September 23 and 203,245 fewer than a year before.
