TRUST ABUSED
WATCHMAN SENT TO GAOL. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, August 19. For the theft of shoes and toothbrushes from a vessel on which he had been employed as watchman in port, Robert Craig Boyd Taylor, aged 21, a seaman, was sentenced to three months by Mr Mosley, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. The police stated that accused admitted having broached the cargo on the Rangitane at Auckland. “I cannot possibly overlook an offence of this nature where a man placed in a position of trust deliberately abuses it and encourages others to abuse it too,” said the Magistrate.
