PROHIBITION.
To the Editor. Sir,—ln reply to J. E. Lea and your other correspondents on the subject of Prohibition, I again ask for proof that the water our Saviour turned into wine was not intoxicating. Without this proof Prohibition must fail in future, as it has done in the past, simply, because it is contrary to the miracle Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee when he turned water into wine at the marriage feast. In His Holy Word he also tells us to drink no longer water but to use a “little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.” Surely there is only one meaning to this and that is that the above miracle was performed for the good of mankind. So the cold water and dried grapes mentioned by your correspondent, “One of the Prohibition Party,” would not have, I ant afraid, much effect on any infirmity or those suffering from a heavy heart or stomach-ache. —I am, etc., “INTERESTED.” August 12, 1935.
