Mrs C. George, of Dunedin, is the guest of her sister, Mrs T. McGillivary. Miss I. Marshall, of Tussock Creek, spent a few days at Limehills last week as the guest of Miss J. Lawrie. Miss Margaret Hughes is holidaying with her mother, Mrs H. Taylor, Great North road. Mr and Mrs H. Cooper, Great North road, have returned from a holiday spent in Dunedin. Miss Dorothy Clark, of Invercargill, is the guest of Miss H. Collett, Forest Hill.
Mrs F. Ashley, of Browns, has been visiting friends at Riverton. Mr and Mrs C. Lindsay and Miss B. Moore are visiting Christchurch. Miss Jessie Shaw, Lady Barkly, returned last week from a holiday spent in the South Sea Islands. Mrs John Faulks, of Pembroke, has been the guest of her sister, Mrs F. Clapp. Miss Isobel Shand, Great North road, spent a few days at Otautau last week. Mrs G. Cleland, Home street, has returned from a brief visit to Dunedin. Mrs W. H. Dixon, of Lilbume, was the guest of Mrs J. McKenzie for a few days last week. Miss J. Lindsay, of Dunedin, is visiting Winton. Miss V. McKenzie, of Nightcaps, spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs D. W. McKenzie, Arthur street. The weekly euchre tournament under the auspices of the local branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in the club rooms on Thursday evening last. The prize-winners were Mrs S. Douglas and Mr A. Symons. The first of a series of euchre parties conducted by the Central Bowling Club was held in the Radio tea rooms on Monday of last week, the successful players being Mrs R. Balch and Mr H. yk. Pierce. A successful function was held in the Drummond hall on Friday evening, when the presentation of trophies in connection with the recent- ploughing match took place. Proceedings took the form of a social and dance. Items were given by Mrs R. Lindsay, Miss McLean, Messrs Brown, Walker, L. McKenzie, F. Tilley and G. Lindsay (solos), Misses Teviotdale (instrumental), Messrs Tilley and Lindsay (duets), Mr J. Miller (bagpipe selection) and Miss N. McLeod (dance). Accompaniments were played by Mesdames Lindsay and Brown. At the conclusion of the concert the presentation took place, Mr F. Sutton occupying the chair. The chairman presented the cup for the champion ploughed lot, while Mr A. McKenzie presented the trophy for the best three-horse team. Mr George Gray, of Wallacetown, was the successful competitor in both events and in returning thanks congratulated the association on its successful conduct of affairs.
