ALLEGED MURDER
WIFE AND BABY. MOTOR MECHANIC ARRESTED. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Rec. 6.30 p.m.) Melbourne, June 16. Clifford Smiles, aged 31, a motor mechanic, has been arrested for the alleged murder of his wife and baby at West Footscray. Smiles informed the police that he had found his wife and child dead in a gas-filled bedroom.
