MARTIAL LAW
STRIKE IN OMAHA. CLIMAX TO LABOUR TROUBLE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7 p.m.) Omaha, Nebraska June 15. City wide martial law has been declared and 1800 militiamen mobilised to end the violence of the tramway strike in which one was killed and scores injured to-day. The long drawn out labour trouble reached a climax when the police admitted they were unable to keep cars moving. The troops were called in throughout last night and to-day. Until the troops arrived gangs of strikers and sympathisers derailed cars and tore up the tracks. Casualties resulted in battles with the police who used batons freely.
