DAVIS CUP CONTEST
AUSTRALIA v. GERMANY.
THE DRAW ANNOUNCED.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Berlin, June 12.
The draw for the Davis Cup match between Australia and Germany is as f °Friday— J. H. Crawford (Australia) v. G. von Cramm (Germany); V. B. McGrath (Australia) v. H. Henkel (Germany). ~ , , Saturday—The doubles teams for Saturday have not been announced, but the draw is expected to be: Crawford and Quist v. von Cramm and Denker. Sunday—McGrath v. von Cramm; Crawford v. H. Denker. An exciting struggle is expected with a chance of another 3-2 victory for Australia. The draw favours Australia should the responsibility of saving the last match rest with Crawford.
The draw as cabled makes it appear that Denker is substituting for Henkel in the second day’s singles. This may be due to an error in transmission, tor the rules of the contest do not allow for more than two nominated singles players in each side. On occasions where the issue has been decided before the last single has been played substitution has been permitted; but this single was regarded only in the nature of an exhibition game. In the 1934 ranking list in Germany both Denker and Henkel were ranked sixth.
