OPERATIONS IN BRITAIN.
OVER A MILLION BORROWERS.

At the conference of the National Association of Building Societies at Folkestone it was stated that the societies’ total assets had expanded in 1934 to £555,000,000 compared with £501,000,000 in 1933. The amount advanced had increased in the same period from £103,000,000 to £124,000,000. . For the first time on record the number of borrowers exceeded a million and share investors and depositors had also increased, with the result that the movement now controlled 3,616,860 accounts.
