HANDSOME GIFT
NATIONAL ART GALLERY. PICTURE BOUGHT FOR 1400 GUINEAS. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 12. The Hon. Alexander and Lady Margaret Shaw have presented the National Art Gallery with George Morland’s masterpiece, “A Carrier’s Stable,” purchased in London for 1400 guineas. Gratification at the gift was expressed hy the Hon. Sir Alexander Young. He was gratified that the gallery should have attracted such favourable notice in the Homeland and hoped the gift would inspire New to show some pride in the gallery.
