CONTEMPT OF COURT
JUDGE’S ORDER IGNORED.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 1.5 a.m.) Colombo, February 18. A. F. Molamure, till recently Speaker of the State Council, was sentenced to twelve months’ simple imprisonment on a charge of contempt of Court. Defendant was the sole executor of the estate of his uncle, the late J. W. Maduwanwella, a noted Kandyan chieftain, and drew all the cash assets from a bank against the order of the district judge before payment of the death duty. Suspension of the sentence pending an appeal to the Privy Council was refused.
