The report stated that the sales during the year had attracted large entries. The accommodation was never taxed, to capacity, although the number passing through the yards was nearly double that of last year. The yards were in good order and several improvements had been carried out. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet the chairman congratulated the company on the healthy state of the finances. He thanked the secretary for the assistance rendered during the year. Satisfaction at the removal of the truckage yards to a position nearer the saleyards was expressed. It was decided to send a letter thanking the railway department for its action. The tender of Mrs E. Reidy for the supply of refreshments was accepted. It was agreed to add an Irish Reel to the dance programme. The Lumsden Progressive League has received a reply from the general manager of the railways regarding the protest made against the erection of trucking yards in the middle of the township. The reply stated that the yards were shifted from their position in the south part of the town as the result of representations by the Lumsden Saleyards company. The work was well under way and the department felt that the new position would be of great assistance to settlers handling stock. It was regretted that the protest could not be upheld.
