Mrs Thomson, Maungatua, is the guest of Mr and Mrs L. Harrington, Eton street.

Miss Joan Chilton, “Alton Brae,” Tuatapere, has been visiting Mr and Mrs F. Chilton, “Redfern,” and Mr and Mrs D. Campbell. Miss J. Chisholm is the guest of Miss McLaren, Wyndham. Mrs McCrostie returned from her holiday on Friday. The Misses Malcolm are spending a holiday with friends at Dunedin, Christchurch and Oxford.

Mrs E. Harrington is spending a few days at Riverton. Miss M. Swap (Auckland) has been visiting Mrs Swap, Merrivale road, and is also renewing acquaintance with friends at Riverton.

Miss Mary N. Ward spent her holidays with Mrs S. Barron, Gummies Bush, and also with Mrs J. King, Tuatapere, camping at Colac Bay. Mr and Mrs C. A. Harrington spent a few days at Colac during the week.

Mr and Mrs J. Thomson and Mrs A. A. Liddell motored to Kingston on Wednesday, en route to Queenstown, where they are spending a holiday. Mrs Angus and Miss Allison Angus are spending a few days with Mr and Mrs Grant-Ussher, Longbush, and also intend to visit friends in Invercargill.

Mr and Mrs T. Norman and Miss Sybil Norman left on Wednesday to spend a holiday in Queenstown. Miss Nancy Henderson, Invercargill, has been the guest of Mr and Mrs F. Hamlin.

Mr and Mrs McMillan have taken up residence in the township. Mrs Stroud is visiting Mr and Mrs N. C. Clapp, Dimedin. Mrs I. Henry, Gore, is the guest of Mr and Mrs J. Maxwell.

Mrs W. Bird, who has been visiting friends during the holidays, left on Wednesday on the first stage of her journey homewards to Timaru. Mr and Mrs D. Roberts are spending a holiday in Christchurch. Mrs Newson, who has been the guest of Mr and Mrs F. Hamlin, left for Palmerston North last Tuesday. A very enjoyable garden party was held at the residence of Mr W. J. Wesney on Friday evening, when there was a large attendance. Croquet, quoits, and miniature golf competitions were held and community singing was indulged in to music supplied by Mrs Cuppies and Mr Pettitt, while the beautiful gardens and surroundings were greatly admired by the visitors, and reflected great credit on their owner, Mr Wesney. At a convenient interval in the proceedings a dainty supper was served, and Mr R. Walker took the opportunity to thank those present for their attendance, explaining at the same time that the object of the function was to assist in defraying the expenses of the Methodist Bible Class members to camp. He hoped that all had enjoyed themselves, and extended an invitation to be present at the Methodist Church garden party in the recreation ground on February 13. He also returned thanks to Mr Wesney for placing his beautiful residence and grounds at their disposal. The singing of Auld Lang Syne terminated a pleasant evening. Following were amongst those present: Rev. and Mrs Malcolm, Mr and Mrs Pettitt, Mesdames Baker, Cuppies, Smellie, G. Low, J. G. Manson, Reekie, Chandler, Stevens, Collie (2), Porteous, McMillan, McFadgen, Coulter, Brown arid Duncan, Misses Donnan, Harrington, Seatter (2), Shaw, Campbell (2), Collie (2), Wesr.ey, Bird, McFadgen, Butler, Williams, Baker, McMillan, Garside, Gould, Cushen, Pettitt, McKenzie, Smellie and Searle, Messrs R. R. Walker, W. J. Wesney, Simon, McMillan, Brown, Pettitt (2), Thomson and Raymond Wesney. Messrs F. A. Hill and John Wesney returned during the week by the Maheno from Melbourne, where they had been attending the scout jamboree celebrations.
