SALE OF WORTHLESS PICTURES ALLEGED.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.40 p.m.) London, January 20. The Paris correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that the trial of J. C. Millet, grandson of the printer of the “Angelus,” charged with selling worthless pictures, opens at Fontainbleau on January 29, It is alleged that Millet firstly confined himself to putting his grandfather’s signature to plausible pictures, but the business succeeded so well that it was extended to Manet, Monet, Corot, Pissaro and others, whose pictures were in demand.
