The Trieste correspondent of the Daily Mail Telegraph says that a decree for Austria’s use of Trieste as a port provides that all seaborne goods from Austria must be carried on Italian or Austrian ships, thus preventing British coal going in British ships. All labour in connection with Austria’s use of the port must be Italian. The agreement lasts for two years.

After 16 years the Austrian flag will reappear on the high seas as a result of the Italian-Austrian 'agreement granting Austria free port facilities at Trieste as a base for a mercantile fleet.
