SALVAGING OF CARGO. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Sydney, April 6. The steamer Jap is now a total wreck and the salvaging of her cargo of timber is being undertaken. A previous message stated: The wooden coastal steamer Jap , ran aground on a sand spit in the vicinity of Cape Hawke on April 3. The vessei, which is 242 tons gross, is owned by the Coastal Steam Ship Co., Ltd. The Jap had a full load of timber for Sydney and had been bar-bound for several days. She was being towed to sea when she grounded. The crew abandoned the vessel.
